Bicycle riding near Lake Geneva

Lake Geneva area really should be "known" for it's bicycle riding. The road biking is great on the back roads outside of the city. While there is a small trail system in the city it is not very good and dangerous at intersections. Go north of town-out into the country.

About 35 min's. north of Lake Geneva on Hwy 12 is the Kettle Moraine State Forest. This is actually a pleasant drive and well worth the time to "real Wisconsin". Bike rental and munchies are available nearby at the LaGrange General Store.

Biking places:

Road Biking

Road biking is best outside of the city of Lake Geneva on the back roads. Riding around the lake is not a good idea because of heavy traffic and two lane roads.

The "sweet spot" is located between Elkhorn-Burlington-Lyons, just north of town. See White River Trail next panel.

White River Trail

Located in the heart of road bike country this is an abandoned railroad bed. Very level with crushed gravel. Bike rental available at the Pedal and Cup depot.

Mountain Bike Trails

Located 35 min's. north of Lake Geneva the tails at the Kettle Moraine State Forest are awesome. The John Muir is a single track technical in areas; can be very hilly. The Emma Carlin is shorter and a little milder. There is a connector trail between the two that is a little easier. Bring bug juice in the summer!
